This is advertised as a true story, but is blatantly false.The author is Steven Spaliviero, who is now calling himself Steven Valentino. Spaliviero wrote an incredibly similar book entitled "PILLS OF GOD: God created man, man created Ecstasy" a few years ago. Look it up: it even has exactly the same cover. Pills of God actually appears to be based off truth from the looks of it: you can find coverage of the case at the time. That one just involves cooking in Australia though, and getting caught.
This one just goes completely beyond the believable: busting out of a US prison, cooking for the CIA and meeting undiscovered persons in the jungle. I'm guessing the original did not sell enough so he decided to make up these nonsense.

Wow, what a life and experience. I bought this yesterday and I just finished a little more than 24 hours later. It’s pretty wild what he went through and the characters in his life are freakin fascinating. Hope they make a movie.
Narco X is an incredible story of one mans journey from Australia to the depths of the . This book is so outrageous it has to be true from start to finish. Steven Valentino is the Australian George Jung who managed to not get sent to prison for life. A must read.
This book is an incredible experience. From high end cars, illegal underground activity, and the jungle, this is nothing short of a thrilling, exciting, incredible journey.
This book portends itself to be a true story while 60-70% of it is fiction. The real author “Steven Spaliviero” wrote another book “Pills of God” detailing a very different “true story” than “Narco X”. One that never included any Ecstasy production / distribution in America or any Sinaloa drug cartel angle. Take everything with a grain of salt.
